Radiation Therapy Program Updates

Highlights for the past year include expansion and reconfiguration of lab spaces, faculty research and connecting with alums.

Faculty Engagement

Radiation Therapy faculty participated in recent conference:

At the ASRT Radiation Therapy Conference, the team co-presented on “Addressing Ageism in Radiation Oncology” and Timmerie Cohen, Ph.D., presented “Capitalize Your Experiences: Taking the First Steps Towards Publication.”

At the AEIRS (Association of Educators in the Imaging and Radiation Sciences) conference, the team co-presented “Does an Educational Module Impact Attitudes Towards Older Adults Among Radiologic Sciences Students?”

Lab Renovation

Radiation demonstration in lab

Radiation Sciences has completed a reconfiguration of our lab spaces, so check out the full story. Our program is excited about updates in our VERT (Virtual Environment in Radiation Therapy) Lab. While VERT has added a lot of versatility in our teaching, there is nothing like hands on. New features include a treatment table with room lasers so the students can practice patient positioning and learn triangulation in a lab setting before entering the clinic. This addition was largely based on clinical preceptor feedback.
