Advance your practice: Earn CE credits through VCU
For many program alums, graduation didn’t mark the end of learning, it simply shifted the setting from classroom to clinic. Now, VCU’s Department of Radiation Sciences is making it easier than ever for alums and registered technologists to keep growing professionally while meeting continuing education requirements.
For several years, the department has offered advanced practice and supportive courses designed for baccalaureate students but open to all RTs. These courses provide a meaningful way to expand clinical knowledge, explore new modalities and stay current in a rapidly evolving field – all while earning continuing education credit. Successful completion awards 15 CE credits for every 1 academic credit, making academic coursework an efficient and impactful way to fulfill credentialing requirements.
The Summer 2026 term features CLRS 481: Applied Pharmacology for Radiologic Sciences (3 credits, online).
In the fall, offerings include:
- CLRS 400: Contemporary Issues in Radiologic Sciences (4 credits, online)
- CLRS 406: Introduction to MRI (3 credits, online)
- CLRS 408: Introduction to Computed Tomography (2 credits, online)
- CLRS 420: Introduction to Vascular-Interventional Radiology (3 credits, hybrid)
- CLRS 492: Coding/Reimbursement (3 credits, online)
Many employers offer tuition reimbursement, and numerous alumni have already taken advantage of that benefit to complete these courses – strengthening their expertise without added financial strain.
Whether you’re looking to branch into MRI or CT, deepen your understanding of pharmacology, explore vascular-interventional practice or gain insight into coding and reimbursement, these flexible online and hybrid options are built with working professionals in mind.
