Where curiosity meets clinical excellence
One of the most rewarding aspects of leading the Department of Radiation Sciences is guiding our programs to evolve and meet the needs of both our students and the health care workforce.
Across every discipline here, you’ll find growth is a common theme. That growth is reflected in our students, our programs and the expanding opportunities available to imaging and radiation sciences professionals.
Demand for skilled practitioners remains strong, and our department prepares graduates who are ready to step into critical roles while also creating pathways for continued professional development. Whether through our fully online Clinical Radiation Sciences degree completion program, leadership opportunities for students or innovative learning experiences across our programs, we’re helping learners build careers that can continue to grow long after graduation.
This issue highlights that commitment in many ways. We celebrated graduates who achieved exceptional outcomes, including strong certification pass rates and impressive job placement. We welcomed future health care professionals at Virginia HOSA, planting seeds for the next generation of imaging specialists. We also recognized students like Sonny Patterson Jr., whose dedication to leadership and patient care exemplifies the values we hope to instill in every graduate.
Perhaps most encouraging is the momentum we are seeing across our programs. Record application numbers in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and continued interest in our degree completion program point to a bright future. As health care continues to evolve, we’re constantly evaluating how to expand opportunities, strengthen partnerships and ensure our graduates are prepared not just for their first jobs – but for lifelong careers marked by growth and leadership.
None of this happens without the dedication of our faculty, staff, alumni, clinical partners and supporters. Thank you for investing in our students and helping us fulfill our mission of preparing compassionate, highly skilled professionals who make a difference every day.
