Radiography Summer 2026 Highlights
Celebrating season of successes
Congratulations to the Radiography Class of 2026

During spring Commencement activities, we celebrated 18 outstanding Radiography graduates. Families, faculty and friends gathered to cheer on a class that has shown resilience, professionalism and heart throughout their journey.
Fourteen of our graduates have already taken and passed the ARRT registry exam, within only a few weeks of graduation. We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see the impact they will make as they begin their careers.

Spotlighting accomplishments at Senior Luncheon

The annual Senior Luncheon gave us a chance to recognize the Class of 2026 in a more personal way. Laughter, stories and a few happy tears filled the room as we reflected on their growth and accomplishments.
Two special awards were presented:

Technologist of the Year – Radiography
Awarded to Kylie Mack, selected by the students for her leadership, support of students in the clinic environment.

Tina Plaster Memorial Award
Presented to Makenzie Howell for her exceptional commitment to academics, professionalism and compassionate patient care.
Participating in the Virginia Society of Radiologic Technologists

This year’s VSRT Conference was a standout event for our students, who participated in the Mock Registry Exam and the always-competitive Student Bowl.
Our students held strong near the top of the leaderboard for most of the competition, demonstrating not only their knowledge but also their confidence and teamwork. Their performance reflects the dedication they bring to the program every day.
Here comes the Class of 2028

With contagious enthusiasm, our newest cohort began clinical rotations in April. The hallways and imaging departments are buzzing with enthusiasm as our students take their first steps into patient care.
Keep an eye out for purple scrubs this summer. Our sophomores are eager, motivated and ready to learn.
High tech: Imaging informatics spotlight
Junior Radiography students enjoyed a special lecture series on Imaging Informatics led by Nathan Hubner, radiology systems administrator at VCU Health.
These sessions offered a behind-the-scenes look at the technology that powers modern imaging – from workflow optimization to data integrity and system design. Our partnership with VCU Health continues to enrich our curriculum and ensures our students stay connected to the profession’s cutting edge.
Legislative advocacy in action

This spring, our rising seniors stepped beyond the classroom and into the heart of professional advocacy. Alexus Campbell, representing Radiography, and her counterpart in Radiation Therapy joined the Virginia Society of Radiologic Technologists at the Capitol to speak directly with legislators about the importance of maintaining licensure for imaging professionals in Virginia.
Their participation reflects the courage, professionalism and leadership we strive to inspire in our students. Advocacy is essential to protecting patient safety, elevating our profession and ensuring that highly trained technologists remain recognized and regulated.
If you’re passionate about keeping Virginia a licensure state, now is the time to get involved. VSRT offers opportunities for students, alumni and professionals to lend their voices and strengthen the future of medical imaging in our state.
